Portuguese born, Portugal-based Norbak returns to Soma with his second single for the label, the Myelination EP. Norbak is fast gaining a name for himself within the global scene and has just completed his debut album to critical acclaim. The young producer has accumulated a wealth of knowledge in sound design, clearly reflected in his music which is deep and rich in sound experimentation whilst maintaining a dance floor-oriented focus. On this latest EP, Spanish techno master Oscar Mulero and Portuguese talent Lewis Fautzi deliver two fantastic remixes that perfectly complement the originals.

Norbak’s “Myelination” opens the EP with percussive elements driving the track from the off. Saturated with light and ethereal FX, dark sounds and drones take the track down an ominous path. Next up, Lewis Fautzi delivers his remix of “Myelination.” With a more minimal interpretation, he manages to keep the dark and direct momentum of the original. Over on the B-Side, “Mirante” rumbles with constant, precise percussion, assembled with powerful kicks, sub-bass, and a perfectly restrained rhythm throughout the track. Techno master Oscar Mulero closes the EP with his take on “Mirante.” He immediately ramps up the intensity with powerful 909 beats and huge atmospheric FX guiding the rhythms. Always precise, Mulero demonstrates his signature sound design and techno aesthetic.
