Nils Frahm - Paris (2LP) [Leiter]

Recorded at the Philharmonie in Paris and a year and a half after releasing his masterpiece "Music For Animals", described by PopMatters as “a musical cascade of monumental proportions,” Nils Frahm presents a new live album through his LEITER label. Following what has become a tradition, this album follows 2013’s "Spaces"—a Pitchfork Album Of The Year—recorded at concerts over the previous 18 months, and 2020’s "Tripping With Nils Frahm"—also released as a film. "Paris", however, is Frahm’s first live album recorded on a single night, March 21, 2024, and contains ten tracks with a total duration of 84 minutes.

Frahm’s performances have always stood out for expanding on his studio recordings, and "Paris" is no exception. Drawing from his extensive back catalog, the German composer and producer reinterprets songs from various of his albums, while also adding the lavish, new, and strangely captivating ‘Opera’ to the tracklist.

If he leaves the stage to the same rapturous ovation with which he was met at the beginning, "Paris" makes it clear why he has been so in demand. He has been booked, often for multiple nights, in venues worldwide including the Sydney Opera House, London’s Barbican, and the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Indeed, the LA Times wrote: “To watch him work, and to hear the audience reaction, is a bit like watching an athlete at the peak of his game.” Expect no less from Nils Frahm on "Paris", a vital document of this ingenious and talented musician’s relentless pursuit of fresh perspectives.
