Niels van Gogh - Pulverturm (ANNA Rework) [Epoque]

The second release for the Époque imprint is an important one, presenting Niels Van Gogh’s 1998 hit, “Pulverturm,” which earned gold certifications in Belgium and South Africa, and charted in the Top 10 across many European countries and around the world. Standout Brazilian techno artist, ANNA, delivers a remix, adding her signature touch to this iconic track.

“In 2023, while preparing my set for Tomorrowland, I was exploring iconic tracks that resonated in Belgium and might be perfect for an edit. I chose ‘Pulverturm’ for its powerful vocals and strong melody,” ANNA says. “What started as a simple edit turned into a labor of love, and I was so happy with the result that I wanted to try to release it as an official remix. We were in talks with Niels Van Gogh when I sent the track to Charlotte de Witte, who loved it. She introduced me to Époque, and we decided to release the remix together. It’s been a year since I made this remix, and I’ve never had so many artists from genres like Techno, House, Melodic Techno, Tech House, Hard Techno, asking for a track as they did with my ‘Pulverturm’ remix. It’s incredibly exciting to finally share it with the world!”

Charlotte de Witte adds, “I fell in love with ANNA's masterful take on 'Pulverturm' the moment she sent it to me. Being a fan myself of legendary tracks that have left a profound mark in the history of electronic music, this one has it all. It's been a long and challenging road to get this done, but I’m incredibly proud and honored to have Niels Van Gogh's timeless classic ‘Pulverturm,’ as seen through ANNA’s eyes, for Époque's second release. A label we founded earlier this year to honor nightlife, club culture, and the legacies of the dancefloor.”

The original version of “Pulverturm” is an edgy, hypnotic tune, with trance-infused synths over powerful drums. The progressive energy of the melodies and the emotion in the vocals give it its character. ANNA’s version is energetic and emotive, with soulful vocals and bright trance-infused chords, over rolling drums that bring the full power.
