Nenor returns to Fossils after some significant releases on prestigious labels such as Moodymann's Mahogani, Defected, and Strictly Rhythm. And this is another excellent 12" that he has created, utilizing his assortment of vintage samplers, curious music-making equipment, a coveted synth collection, and a mix of samples and live instrumentation. There's a mix of dusty house drums and soulful samples on the raw opener '17 Daze,' 'It's A Deep Tune' is precisely that, with its distant birdsong, jungle toms, and distorted bass, and 'Tough Decision' brings an epic soulful sample over more stripped-back yet compelling house drums. 'Just The Way' closes with an R&B vocal over minimal but warm drums. The variety on this EP makes it stand out even more.
