There’s a heavyweight lineup on this first release from Norm Talley’s promising new Upstairs Asylum imprint. To kick things off, Talley himself, a Motor City key player, joins fellow legend Omar S on opener Muggy Detroit Heat. It’s an intense, humidity-laden house track, throbbing with raw, enveloping melodies. On the B-side, French house icon D’Julz reworks a Norm track in collaboration with the inimitable Moodymann. Here, warm chords, romantic vocal snippets and rough-edged yet inviting house beats make for an intimate basement gem.
