Mike Agent X Clark - In The House Club EP [Shadow Pressings]

Shadow Pressings hits its third release with an EP full of influential Detroit figure Mike Agent X Clark. The founder of the Beatdown sound, Mike’s productions can be found on labels such as Third Ear, Planet E and Shockwave Records, as well as being a member of the Underground Resistance collective.

For his Shadow Pressings debut, Mike has produced some classic house cuts with his trademark Detroit feel. The lead track, ‘In The House Club’, features spoken word from fellow Detroit native Dr. Tinglefingers, who calls to the dancefloor, leading into a solid slab of classic, raw, stripped-back house. Jimpster handles remix duties, building a similar vibe to his timeless 2005 rework of Delano Smith’s ‘Message For The DJ’. Keeping all the elements intact, Jimpster beefs up the stabs with some additional rhodes stabs and adds precise details to keep the energy flowing.

‘Get Up’ is just the sort of stripped-back, bass-heavy drum tool Ron Hardy would have used to whip dancers into a frenzy at the Muzic Box. Closing the release, we have ‘Fresh Air’, which maintains a deep and minimal approach, ideal for a no-holds-barred, intense basement jam, in that authentic Agent X style.
