Maya Jane Coles - Focus Now [20/20 Vision]

Originally released in 2011, during deep house’s second big wave, Maya Jane Coles’ Focus Now EP returns as part of the 30th Anniversary Full Circle series for 20/20 Vision. It’s been deleted for years and hints at a very different sound than Coles would develop later, when she spread her sonic wings to many other territories.

This reissue includes all three original tracks, starting with Focus Now, a bubbling soft focus blend of pulsing synths and elastic drums; Little One, which was a bonafide warehouse classic back in the day; and Senseless, featuring Coles’ own vocals and a slow-motion percussive shuffle. Alongside these comes The High Life, another warm and syrupy combination of soft beats and nostalgic vocal hooks that, like the rest of the cuts, has been newly remastered.
