Following a four-year hiatus from releasing solo records, British musician Matt Karmil returns with the smooth, delicate beauty of his new album, *No Going Back*, accompanied by subtle and stealthy rhythms.

With moments of creative inspiration gradually unfolding, the album took shape amidst a busy schedule of mixing, mastering, and co-production. The list of artists who have benefited from his multifaceted skills includes Underworld, Bicep, Mall Grab, Jayda G, DJ Koze, and Neneh Cherry.

Regarding the process behind his new work, Karmil comments: "After releasing my previous album, my drive to make my own music fragmented, so I focused on working with other artists, seeking precious moments to create only when I felt compelled to, out of pure feeling. A few years later, those moments of personal expression started to add up, and I gained the confidence to share them with some of my most trusted confidantes, including Rick Smith from Underworld and Axel Boman. I received such positive feedback that I started thinking about bringing them to a wider audience."

Feeling the benefits of this new approach, *No Going Back* is the strongest expression of Matt's artistic vision to date, perfecting the spectrum of styles for which he is recognized, all blurred by a warm haze. The microhouse anthem "SFP" is followed by the broken tech science of "No Going Back," the eerie dub techno of "Old Haunts," and the sublime hazy glow of "The Last Time." Later, the eccentric dancefloor experimentation of "Still Something There," the washed-out electroid balm of "Things Really Happen," and the epic dark ambient closer "15 mins" continue to vary the offering.

Born near Stonehenge, in Wiltshire, England, Matt Karmil was a classical guitar prodigy and an early record collector. His adolescence was spent DJing and working as a studio engineer in London, Paris, Berlin, and Stockholm, while honing his own craft as a recorded artist.

In 2014, Karmil released the album "- - - -", an acclaimed debut that combined dusty samples and tape effects with irresistible grooves, all framed within a striking minimalist aesthetic. In the same year, he released the jubilant club anthem "So You Say" on Beats In Space Records. This breakthrough was followed by a steady flow of albums and EPs on labels such as Smalltown Supersound, Idle Hands, AUS, and Studio Barnhus.

In parallel, Karmil's work as a studio engineer has flourished. The experience gained during his formative years in some of the world's most demanding recording studios, combined with a rare and precise musical intuition, has allowed him to perform regular mixing, mastering, and co-production work behind the scenes, with a variety of renowned artists turning to Karmil in moments of sonic need.
