A veteran touch within Planet Rhythm’s chain of fresh names, Marco Bailey’s Drift EP is pure techno for materialists, trading harmonics for inharmonics as melody occupies the same level of importance as rough and abrasive textures.

Bailey was initially schooled in 90s trance before returning in force to techno around 1998, subsequently founding MB Elektronics and helping shape Belgium’s harder circuit. Drift represents precisely that steely control, with dense, metallic sonic friction, although “Submerge” veers towards a more melodic approach: a slow, exhalatory rotation despite its sub-aquatic atmosphere.

A similar energy, marked by saw-tooth peaks and mechanical tension, runs through Luca Accordi’s remix of the aforementioned track, as well as the closing cuts “Sonic Ride” and “Dub No Kick”, with the latter ultimately taking us completely out of body.
