Mamacita Ft. Persona RS - Your Love [E Soul Cultura]

When it comes to musical discoveries, sometimes the stars simply align. DJ and record collector Steve KIW introduced Mr Bongo to this incredible Chilean cover of the timeless Jamie Principle and Frankie Knuckles classic, Your Love. Despite being originally released 13 years ago, it recently began to capture the attention of house and Balearic connoisseurs in the UK, an interest further cemented by its inclusion in Idjut Boys' epic sets. Steve heard them play it, tipped us off, and it soon became a favourite in the Mr Bongo offices.

By pure coincidence, when Mr Bongo DJs joined Luke Una to play at La Paloma ballroom in Barcelona a few weeks later, Luke dropped this amazing rendition at the highlight of his set. A good friend of his, Michelle from Huddersfield, had also recommended the track to him and he immediately fell in love. A serendipitous confluence that made Tu Amor the perfect choice for the next chapter in the É Soul Cultura discography.

The version in question was released in 2012 as part of a digital EP. It was the work of Chilean DJ, producer and singer Mamacita (Carolina Vallejos) and producer Sebastián Román, also known as Persona RS. They met during a party in Santiago, at the height of electronic music's effervescence in Chile, and their shared passion for making house in Spanish and their admiration for Frankie Knuckles led them to create this raw and unique version.

Recorded with lo-fi equipment, including an old Windows laptop and a borrowed Neumann microphone, the track pays homage to the DIY spirit of early Chicago productions. The result is a cosmic, minimalist, and eccentric interpretation of an undisputed classic, full of bubbling synths and Carolina's stunning Spanish vocals, which became a hit in the Chilean underground circuit. However, beyond some DJs in Latin America and the United States who adopted it, it never received the international recognition it deserved.

Fast forward to 2025, and É Soul Cultura is proud to present the glorious Tu Amor on vinyl for the first time, accompanied by a new extended club version, re-edited by Luke Una and Luke Solomon (Classic Music). Upon hearing Tu Amor for the first time, Luke Una recalls: "It had a special charm, it was an unorthodox structure, with a big dose of weirdness and it sounded totally DIY in a brilliant way. Talking with Luke (Solomon) about how much we loved it, we decided to re-edit it together. We reinforced the eccentric touch of those crazy synths and extended it to make it a more powerful tool for the dance floor, without losing that charming cosmic vibe."
