As the bassist for dance-punk outfit The Rapture, Mattie Safer cut his teeth in the music scene alongside a wave of now-legendary early-2000s NYC acts like Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem, and more (a time recently immortalized in the Meet Me In The Bathroom documentary).

Fast forward nearly two decades, Mattie has found the more melodic side of dance as the lead vocalist for slo-mo kings, Poolside, and now presents his sophomore solo project as lovetempo, on the Razor-N-Tape label.

Heavily supported by Gilles Peterson, lovetempo’s modern soul classic But I Do receives its vinyl pressing with a trio of remixes. Crackazat delivers his signature-style reinterpretation, weaving the original’s organic elements and sticky vocals into a deep, jazz-tinged mix. London’s Daisybelle pushes the BPMs and adds pulsing synths in her version, while Brazilian duo From House To Disco brings a dubby, club-ready remix to round out the release.
