DIG has omnivorously selected the four tracks for this EP, allowing vinyl wizard Louis the 4th to take us on a stylistic journey between the wiles of old-school and new-school techno.

Olivia Mendez (the curator behind this EP) chose these gems following the way she would build her sets; each track corresponds to a distinct part of a burning voyage. Each track is a different colour in a powerful, vibrant palette, testifying to the versatility of an artist whose emblem is anonymity—remember Detroit?—and reinvention. The man behind the bandana doesn’t hesitate to pay tribute to the old-school while, at times, enveloping us in a computerized sonic chaos, as elegant as it is disconcerting.

Dilatation is a throbbing techno track, with a groove that feels minimalistic but keeps expanding through punched breaks and insistent synths wrapped in a sustained atmosphere, a sort of tool that elevates the energy to an almost combustible point.

Almost There decompresses space into a light, energy-saving atmosphere, that explores new territory in LTF’s repertoire. Spun through impulsive rhythms and a rhythmic fervour, it gently oscillates between tension and release.

On the B-side, Kurrikulum Vitae flexes LTF’s machinery, with mischievous shifts in a groove that feels simultaneously ancient and utterly new, building up a depth of textures and tones heading towards a skanking peak.

999 closes the deal with layered distortions wrapped in ghostly tones and reverberating crackles, midway between a techno artifact and a dazzling sonic puzzle, built on a cyclical melody that borders on perfection.
