Alex Voorhies, known to dancefloor connoisseurs as lil_art_hoe, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Louisiana, where he operates the boutique label Techno Money Records. lil_art_hoe's signature sound is raw and unedited, with a range of grooves and melodies that are endlessly spun to create truly unique tracks, full of big ideas and completely oblivious to any notion of normality.

For this Studio Barnhus debut, lil_art_hoe delivered two key examples of his sonic practice, with elements that are constantly expanding and contracting, resulting in some of the most captivating yet straightforward club music heard at Studio Barnhus HQ in recent times. Side A, standard living, includes a special dub mix prepared by the artist himself, while rave OG and long-standing Studio Barnhus hero Truncate was called upon to deliver a high-octane techno take on the track recall on Side B.

"standard living and recall were born in spring, at a time when I longed for balance and remembered the moments that brought me to the present. For recall I was exploring a lot of live funk recordings, while standard living was an emulation of returning to the workforce and re-establishing a 9-to-5 routine as a chef," comments lil_art_hoe in a rare statement direct from the swamps of South Louisiana.
