Leyo - Circus EP [Cecille]

Following his debut album release on the label, Leyo eagerly returns to Cécille with his new ‘Circus’ EP, featuring collaborations with fellow label artist Easttown and vocalist Thierry Ganz.

In September 2023, the Dutch artist burst onto the scene with his acclaimed LP Hello, a project that spanned a wide range of influences, moving between electro-pop soul, funk-tinged disco, raw house, and sun-drenched lounge cuts. Now, with this new five-track EP, Leyo leans predominantly into house in its purest form.

The EP opens with ‘Circus feat. Easttown & Thierry Ganz’, a five-and-a-half-minute track featuring organic percussion, enveloping sub-bass lines, spatial sweeps, and looped vocal chants. This is followed by ‘Hypnotize’, which draws on classic house tropes: punchy bass, swinging drums, and chopped vocal lines throughout the track.

The B-side begins with ‘Visions’, which adopts a more disco house aesthetic, with funk guitars, mumbled delayed vocals, resonant layers, and robust drums. Next comes ‘Sunrise’, a more dreamlike and minimalistic piece, with delayed guitars, whispered vocals, and restrained percussion. Finally, as a digital bonus, ‘Sweat’ closes the package with a French touch-style bass groove, dub brass, swept filters, and a shuffle rhythm section ideal for peak-time on the dancefloor.
