Len Faki assembles a second all-star cast for the second installment of Fusion Remixes

The Berliner enlists his favorite producers for the second edition of ‘Fusion’ re-workings

Renowned Berlin-based techno artist Len Faki has announced the second installment of his Fusion remix trilogy, due April 19 on his Figure imprint.

Almost a year after the original LP’s release, Fusion Remixes 02/03 reminds us of the versatility and musical expansiveness of Len Faki’s latest masterpiece. The Berliner has personally hand-picked his favourite producers, from ANNA to Modeselektor, to reimagine eight originals across the second double EP of the Fusion remix collection, following January’s first installment.

Part two of the trilogy kicks off with ‘Sexuality (My Reality)’, re-created by Len himself under the Hardspace moniker into a potent stomper, adding a cacophony of hi-hats by mixing in his understanding of floor dynamics. Fusion’s deep cut ‘Shri Yantra’ gets the club treatment next, with Luke Slater’s Deep Heat remix ramping up the intensity, transporting the delicate original synth textures into a high octane yell.

On the B-side, Amotik transforms the lively ‘Make Me Scream’ into a one-way tunnel of haunted vocals and pounding percussion, while sharp breakbeats and warm synths give Ploy’s remix of ‘Raum 422’ a distinctively old school feel.

ANNA then shapes the album highlight, ‘Hymn’ into two parts, into a club anthem with a thick bass and intricate melodies on top, and ‘Astra’ receives a remix by Len Faki himself into a stripped-down Beat Room mix full of otherworldly sound effects.

Closing this second remix EP, Fusion’s lead single ‘Don’t Be Stupid Day’ is reinterpreted into an ominous and distorted fever dream by Modeselektor, before Beste Hira’s take on ‘Waver’.

Stay tuned for the third part of the remix trilogy, which will bring even more of the Fusion originals into a new shape…
