With an album as versatile and expansive as his Fusion LP, Len Faki wanted a collection of remixes that showcased a similar kind of musical variety. Hand-picked from among his favorite producers, the cast now counts a diverse group of artists that have reimagined 20 of Fusion’s tracks, ready to arrive across two double- and one single 12” EPs.
FigureX39 kicks off the trilogy, with our very own Arthur Robert at the controls, aptly retooling the album’s poignant closer into a sweeping melodic peak for peaktime. Ø [Phase] ratchets up the intensity on Temple, keeping the BPM in line with modern techno’s need for speed. On the flip, rRoxymore inverts Tor 8 into a psychedelic funnel of haunted vocals and thumping percussion, while dubbed-out synth twirls and ferocious filter action give Pangea’s remix of Space Cowboys I a distinctive UK vibe.
Charging in with the same punchiness as ever, PAS overlays sharp rave stabs and ceaseless driving drums on his take on Yantra, and one of the album’s few original house tracks, It’s Time…, gets the Truncate treatment, creating a slender, clap-laden groove with enough bottom end to move some bodies. Often known for his cinematic compositions, Djrum delivers a complex masterpiece of mesmerizing drum science and intricate patterns condensed into a dazzling mosaic of sound. Closing out this first EP in style is Polygonia, a Munich-based newcomer, presenting her glistening and ever-shifting remix of Friedrichshain Funk, effortlessly moving between pounding rhythms and mystical melodies.
