The esteemed chronicler, bona fide DJ and discreet master of the turn, Bill Brewster, presents the latest installment in his After Dark series for Late Night Tales.

A vibrant, lustful and laid-back experience, groove is at the heart of this freestyle selection, a vibe Bill describes as “a basement, a red light, and a sound system. Or, as the Beasties once rapped, slow and low, that is the tempo.”

There's Balearic bossa with Hawaiian drum machine from Island Band, percussive post-punk Afro from Czech jazz vocalist Jana Koubkova, and bubbly-dubwise, sighing slap-soul bass from Debbe & The Code.

There's also seductive deep house ambience from Lanowa, skipping, infectious jazz funk grooves from Canada High, and Nail’s life-affirming re-edit of Gilbert O’Sullivan’s electro-pop 'So What'.

Bill's studio skills are also present and correct, with a rolling, bassy take on country troubadour Jeb Loy Nichols, remixed alongside Alex Tepper under the alias Hotel Motel, and a bubbling disco version of Khruangbin, this time in collaboration with Raj Gupta, as Mang Dynasty.

Packed with exclusives, tracks are either brand new or digitally available for the first time, whilst others are rarities that will empty your wallet if purchased elsewhere. Either way, every track is a highlight, working equally well as standalone pieces or within Bill's fluid, cohesive mix.
