Kutiman joins Batov Records’ Middle Eastern Grooves series with an explosive double-sided single

Batov Records is thrilled to announce the debut of pioneering producer, multi-instrumentalist, and multi-disciplinary artist Kutiman to their highly collectible Middle Eastern Grooves 45s series. The release features two essential psych-funk pieces packed with souk-sized energy: “Haraka” and “Khamsin”.

A prolific musical force, Kutiman delivers pure power on “Haraka” (“movement”), combining crashing rock drums, irresistible psychedelic basslines, and haunting organ riffs, with microtonally-tuned synths and tabla-inspired percussion.

On the B-side, “Khamsin” (“heatwave”) continues the journey with another strong dose of Middle Eastern psychedelia and funk, culminating in a scorching guitar solo in his signature Middle Eastern style from long-time collaborator Uri Brauner Kinrot (Ouzo Bazooka, Boom Pam), who also provides seductive languid bass riffs.

Both tracks showcase Kutiman’s distinctive ability to fuse regional traditions with modern grooves, marking a bold addition to the label’s standout series.

Kutiman, born Ophir Kutiel, achieved global prominence with his 2009 viral project “ThruYou,” celebrated by Time Magazine as one of the year’s “50 Best Inventions”. He has since released five acclaimed albums, blending influences from afrobeat, funk, jazz, ambient, and psychedelia into cinematic and visionary productions.
