Nick Curly’s Cecille imprint helped define the second wave of tech house in the early 2000s. Its Mannheim sound became the fashionable genre and, after a few years of sporadic activity, the label is back consistently releasing fresh grooves, this time by new school names. Kirik is one of them: a highly regarded, talented Ukrainian producer with great versatility. He opens the EP with a speed-tech track packed with Detroit soul, then gets funkier with the deep What We Luv. Culminating is a crisp, dub-tinged tech house cut spiced up with garage-flavored percussion, while Gemmy goes for filters and loops to the max for great impact with minimal elements.
