Austrian musician, painter, and filmmaker Kimyan (formerly known as Kimyan Law) combines sound and visual design in a strikingly direct way to create a holistic artistic experience. He approaches his compositions with an open and intuitive perspective, connecting the resonances of traditional instruments and rhythmic patterns from Central, North, East, and Sub-Saharan Africa with sophisticated production techniques.

His latest album, Coloria, in which he explores the concept of timbre in a multifaceted way, represents the pinnacle of his artistic development to date.

For his live performances, Kimyan relies on the organic element of interpretation, using instruments such as electronic percussion pads and MIDI controllers. This imbues his pieces with a spontaneous and physical presence on stage that goes far beyond simple reproduction, transforming his performances into a dynamic interaction between improvisation and structure.

In combination with his self-created visual works and videos, audiovisual universes emerge that reflect and make cultural influences, identities, moods, and sonic nuances shine together. Kimyan's works tell stories in many colors, but always in one language: his own.
