Comprising Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald “DJ” Johnson on drums, the Texan trio Khruangbin introduce their second album, Con Todo El Mundo, slated for release on January 26, 2018.

While their 2015 debut album, The Universe Smiles Upon You, was influenced by 1960s and 70s Thai cassettes, as well as Southeast Asian pop, rock, and funk compilations, Con Todo El Mundo travels further east, over India, for inspiration from equally unexplored funk and soul sounds from the Middle East, particularly Iran. Laura Lee explains the album title: “My grandfather always asked me ‘How much do you love me?’ and would only accept one answer, ‘Con Todo El Mundo’ (with all the world).”

Throughout Con Todo El Mundo, Laura Lee’s melodic bass theory, Mark’s free-flowing, lyrical guitar lines, and DJ’s always-steady, in-the-pocket drumming form something greater than the sum of its parts. A synchronized soul unit keyed into vibrations traversing the planet, honing their craft, soaking up the sights, sounds, and sensations of cultures across the globe, processing them through the Khruangbin filter, and delivering the result…con todo el mundo.
