KCT - Adult Swing LP [W.E.R.F]

Karel Cuelenaere, following the success of Black Flower, John Ghost, and Ping O.D., has received numerous accolades from the international press. Louder Than War (UK) highlights his "incredible virtuosity on the keyboard," and OOR (Netherlands) describes him as a "descendant of Keith Emerson." De Standaard (Belgium) praises his "decisive contribution to the sound" of the aforementioned bands.

Although Karel is primarily perceived as a keyboardist in the progressive rock and hybrid jazz scene, with KCT - short for Karel Cuelenaere Trio - he decidedly opts for the grand piano. He is accompanied on double bass and drums by Cyrille Obermüller and Gert-Jan Dreessen, respectively, both highly respected musicians in the Belgian jazz scene.

The trio is stylistically anchored in the Belgian jazz tradition, drawing on the work of Aka Moon, Octurn, and Jozef Dumoulin, among others, and incorporates the atmosphere of "saudade," a type of melancholy Karel encountered on a tour of Brazil and recognizes in recordings by pianist Keith Jarrett during the 1960s.

"Adult Swing" is the first full-length album as KCT and will be one that firmly positions the trio on the map.
