Self-released in 1969, "Our Thing" is the debut album from the Houston performing unit known as the Kashmere Stage Band. The Texas student band formed at Kashmere High School and, under the direction of musical director Conrad O. Johnson, released a series of cult albums on Kram Records, before disbanding in 1978. Raw funk, basically that's what they've been playing and there was clearly a blaxploitation vibe all over it, but their drive was quite unique. Rediscover the myth.
