A new Kapote release is a rare thing. Although he is a musician and producer first, he rarely puts out music. Why? Because in the last years he was busy DJing every weekend all over the world (as a regular at clubs such as Berlin's Panorama Bar and London's Phonox, but also at festivals such as Melt or Kala) and building up the Toy Tonics craze with his label friends. The Berlin based label which is home to 15 international artists (Cody Currie, Coeo, Gee Lane, Athlete Whippet, Baby‘s Berserk, Stump Valley…) became THE brand for colorful and diverse, forward thinking, "organic" funk-driven post-digital dance music. Kapote and his friends put out music that connects analogue and band vibes with digital production in a very fresh and unique way. Influenced by European underground disco and US house as well as Afro beats, New Wave and soulful electronics. But he and his label have also achieved a great reputation for working with some of the biggest names in Berlin graphic design and art to release the Toy Tonics limited edition T-shirts, the in-house TT Pocket Poster magazine, posters and throwing exhibitions and visual shows. Kapote aka Mathias Modica and his 3-member TT gang were busy building all of this. Including also the Toy Tonics Jams. The label parties which started at an illegal venue in Berlin in 2020 and exploded in 2023. With more than 120 TT events all over Europe. Where the label represents its own vision of sound, vibe and style. Kapote organized all of this with his gang. And it seems that 2024 will be even busier. With Toy Tonics events in clubs but also in museums (Palais de Tokio/ Paris, Milano Design Festival) or Kapote and the Toy Tonics gang playing with Kaytranada and Peggy Gou at Sonar Festival.
