Pioneering NYC house label Nu Groove Records proudly presents a four-track original EP from fellow legendary NYC producer Jovonn. After nearly three decades without releasing material, the cult label returned in 2021, spearheaded by none other than Jovonn with “Random / Get Over It.”

Following his Funn Houze EP released in early 2023, the Brooklyn native producer returns with his Blaque Katt EP, a masterful demonstration of innate musicality combined with an affinity for the 90s club sound. On the lead track, “The Piano Fix,” Jovonn creates a dichotomy between the delicacy of the instrument and the heavy, sweaty feel of the dancefloor. A harder piano technique follows in “The Piano Fix Returns” and “Let Me Tell You Somethin,” showcasing his talent for harmony and melody. Closing the immersive collection is “Drop That Traxx,” a playful track with syncopated and addictive hooks over a powerful four-on-the-floor beat. Throughout the EP, Jovonn demonstrates his ability to craft raw and powerful music with delicate care.
