Josh Wink's 'Higher State of Consciousness' – a devilishly simple, ridiculously intense, and pleasingly tough-sounding jewel that's been in near-constant rotation since the 90s – falls into that category. Yet, back in 2019, Adana Twins delivered two revisions that somehow managed to breathe new life into Wink's most celebrated anthem. Now re-released, they remain excellent versions. First, check out the A-side 'Remix 1', where the Watergate and Diynamic regulars play with build-and-release dynamics, layering Wink's aggressive, instantly recognizable TB-303 lines over a relaxed and steady electro beat. They opt for a driving, four-to-the-floor house style, complete with a punchy bassline, on 'Remix Two', deploying the mind-bending acid motifs to create a more hypnotic and immersive feel.
