Jordan GCZ, whom you may remember as one half of JuJu & Jordash, brings a jazz sensibility to his take on techno. His productions are crafted with a variety of analog gear and dusty synths, giving them a charming, lived-in character. His melodies always carry weight, whether looking to the future or evoking nostalgia. The latter is evident in the opening track, which exudes whimsical charm over textured house beats. “Timbit Acid” is a more twisted exercise, featuring distorted 303 lines; “Beaver Tail” showcases masterful synth patterns and brilliant pads that soften the rapid-fire beats; and “All Dressed” offers an interesting twist on early Detroit techno, with more free-flowing and expressive melodic lines.
