John Summit, Dennis Ferrer & Disciples, Ferreck Dawn - EP15 [Defected]

The Defected vinyl series continues to commit the label’s biggest digital releases to wax, delivering some of the finest house music previously unavailable on vinyl. The fifteenth edition celebrates two artists who have made their mark on the international scene; the face of new Chicago house, John Summit, and internationally renowned Dutch producer, Ferreck Dawn. The A-side of this four-track EP kicks off with one of summer 2022’s biggest hits. A Latin-influenced tech house record, 'La Danza', A-listed on BBC Radio 1, bursts with energy thanks to catchy vocals we have come to expect from John Summit. What follows on the A-side is a dark and captivating remix of 'Whisper', originally by Dennis Ferrer & Disciples and featuring vocal from James Yuill. The two tracks show Summit’s versatility as a producer, from the light and inviting sound of 'La Danza' to the heavy tech house of 'Whisper'. The B-side features Ferreck Dawn’s collaborations with two of London’s most recognisable dance vocalists. 'Life' (written and recorded with Izzy Bizu) is an excellent showcase of the producer’s signature vocal house style, brimming with summer energy but still retaining a cool club vibe. Rounding out the collection is 'Back Tomorrow', a clubbier house collaboration with energetic percussion, a grooving bassline and a distinctive piano riff contrasting with Jem Cooke’s haunting vocals.
