After his magnificent and rather unexpected foray into afro and latin fusion with his Sol Set project, John Beltran returns to more familiar territory with a rendition of his classic mid-90s album 'Ten Days of Blue', recorded at this year's Dekmantel in Amsterdam. We can truly experience the entire concert experience, from the sound of whispered anticipation and the intro tape to the resolution in the closing and the very essence of the music: energetic, optimistic, groovy yet understated and relaxed at the same time. It sits somewhere between his ambient work and his harder techno. It is among Beltran's finest works.
