JKriv Featuring Megatronic / Pahua - Intuition EP [Razor-N-Tape]

JKriv returns home to Razor-N-Tape with the Intuition EP, a powerful statement reflecting how much his sound has evolved in the two plus years since his last solo release on the label.

A driving floor-filler, Blueprint builds on a relentless bassline, slowly unfolding through conversational synths into a soulful vocal loop that culminates in a euphoric peak. The EP’s title track is a slow, dubby groove, equally inspired by 90s Ryuichi Sakamoto records and modern G-funk. Over nimble piano, sticky vocoder melodies, and a swirling bass, Megatronic delivers a melancholic message of romantic loss and rebirth, to which J adds a very intimate vocal outro.

Zone 1, an homage to David Morales’ incredible Red Zone remix catalog, moves with insistent analog drums and shamelessly dirty bass, all beneath a fluffy layer of acid-tinged, enveloping synths. Paula’s Dance, meanwhile, proudly wears the influence of Larry Heard, a symphony of intertwining analog machines, capped by an enigmatic and beautiful vocal from Mexican singer Pahua.

Composed while JKriv was undergoing treatment for lymphoma in late 2024, this record is both deeply personal and a triumphant affirmation of resolve in the face of adversity. The beautiful artwork by The Myno captures the vulnerability and focus that defined this very significant moment in J’s life.
