JKriv - Adaptation EP [Rocksteady Disco]

Detroit label Rocksteady Disco has been dropping a few proper gold nuggets this season, and next in line is Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and label owner JKriv, with his Adaptation EP. Opening track, Greene Street Lament, is an immersive, chilled out entry that immediately lowers the pulse.

Adaptation brings it back up with a funky combination of drums and handclaps, underpinned by a restless and playful bassline. Total Pleasure tugs at the heartstrings with a melancholic vocal that glides over deep mid-tempo drums and lush synths. The mid-tempo magic continues into Vibetown, where synths blur into smooth broken beats, adorned with hints of strings and jazzy keys that gradually build.

To close out this elegant and warm EP, Adaptation gets a dub rework.
