Rich in ancestral flows, between Ghana and Europe, driven by deep rhythms guided by congas and seductive warm brass riffs, comes Jembaa Groove, whose new album and refreshed sound remind us that jazz, in its contemporary and soulful form, is not just a London thing. Highlife, Ghana's colorful national tradition, is at the heart of Berlin-based Jembaa Groove's sound. This new work, conceived as a continuation of their 2022 debut album Susuma, goes even further in provoking new perceptions of jazz and soul, supported by young and veteran talent from Ghana and its diaspora. Masterful vocal lessons come from Sheffield (UK)-based K.O.G and original 70s and 80s highlife scene veteran Gyedu Blay Ambolley, while Ghanaian multi-instrumentalist and producer Kwame Yeboah (Kwashibu Area Band) also contributes his inspiration.
