Smartbar resident Jeff Derringer takes the reins for the latest Suara release, accompanied by remixes from Blueprint head honcho James Ruskin and German duo Cassegrain.

Highly respected as a producer, Derringer unleashes "Mercury," an expansive and pounding techno weapon. Analog weight and synth stabs intertwine, reverberating in this carefully constructed abyss, while a thundering kick drum, crunchy hi-hats, and modulated tom drums generate a dizzying spell of suspense and tension.

Next up, "Apollo" is a raw, glitchy, and emotionally charged cut. It begins with a twisted synth line and a pulsating kick drum combo that evolves into an introspective journey, with Derringer panning percussions and distorted claps to build a dystopian soundscape in the mind.

On the B-side, pillar of British techno and Blueprint mastermind, James Ruskin remixes "Mercury," deploying that nineties vibe that has solidified him as a historical bastion of the UK scene. It's a heavy, pounding track, injecting hydraulic hi-hats and warped samples that give it an almost primeval character. An added sense of urgency and complexity, with precise moments of suspense and tension, shows exactly why Ruskin enjoys legendary status.

To close the EP, Cassegrain transforms "Apollo" into a dark, atmospheric, and enveloping groove. It's frenetic, fists-in-the-air, with a submarine essence intensified by bleeps that evoke sonar. A direct and uncompromising close, deserving to be unleashed on the most powerful sound systems.
