Jazzanova's second 12-inch "I Human" remix is another impressive collection of reinterpretations by some of today's best club music producers.
In recent years, Danny Berman, aka Red Rack’em, has built a loyal and constant fan base (including Gilles Peterson), primarily with original material for labels such as Tirk, Undertones or Bergerac, in addition to his own Red Rack’Em label. Commissioned by Jazzanova for one of his first remixes, the British DJ/producer, now based in Berlin, did much more than a good job. His version clearly bears the hallmark of Berlin deep house, but retains enough roughness to stand out in any DJ set, even outside Berlin.
Vakula, not only one of Jazzanova's current favorite DJ/producers, is considered by many clubbers to be one of the biggest names on the dance music circuit right now. Almost no one sounds as fresh and as current as Mikhaylo Vityk, originally from Konotop, Ukraine. The man is on a roll, as can be heard in this dazzling reinterpretation. He stays true to the jazzy rhythm of the original, but further fuels the fire by cranking up the intensity of crashes and cymbals. A sure hit.
It has been a very productive two years for the Lithuanian duo Marijus Adomaitis and Vidmantas Cepkauskas, better known as Mario & Vidis. And it seems they still aren't running out of steam. Here comes another brilliant remix from their lab: a dark, dub piece, with an emphasis on a throbbing bassline, which feels even more powerful in the dub version (available on the digital release).
