A very special production arrives from early 1970s East Germany!
One of the country's best Soul-Jazz and Beat bands, led by bassist and singer Horst Krüger, recorded two unreleased, absolutely outstanding tracks here in their newly formed septet format.

"Ich will die Zeit nicht bereuen" is undoubtedly one of the best-produced German soul beat tracks that existed in the GDR at that time. Composed by Ralf Petersen, then head of Berliner Rundfunk, this piece is not just a stylish hit, but a beat bomb with power and rock attitude.

It was no coincidence that the station head chose the recently formed Horst Krüger Septett, which from 1970 onwards gave the contemporary sound a perfect touch with its reinforced brass section.

The track "Sonderbar" is exactly what its title promises: peculiar and extraordinary. A gem created in 1972. This somewhat mellower Soul-Jazz vocal piece stems from a clear idea conceived by composers Dieter Kopf, Horst Krüger and Franz Bartzsch as musical arranger, along with Jens Gerlach, all of whom were imbued with the free spirit of the hippie era.

A dominant repetition —stylistically, a Repetitio— in the lyrics intertwines with a theme about ever-evolving feelings and love. The groove of bass, guitar, drums, and organ is reflected, redefined, and reinvented again and again with mastery. An interlude with a flute solo and a final Hammond organ solo, both dreamy and rhythmic, envelop the verses with a very contemporary feel.
