Hilit Kolet - Snap Talk [Rekids]

Hilit Kolet returns to Rekids with the ‘Snap Talk’ EP. It follows her ‘Hot Mess’ single for the renowned imprint and features vocals from Kameelah Waheed on the title track.

Continuing her impressive run of releases in 2024, Hilit Kolet returns to Radio Slave’s prestigious Rekids imprint with the two-track ‘Snap Talk’ EP, following in the footsteps of ‘Hot Mess’ (Rekids) and ‘Everything Is Amazing’ (Bush).

The two dancefloor favourites gained support from DJs including Laurent Garnier, TSHA, HAAi, Maya Jane Coles, Roman Flügel, Chloé Caillet, Jennifer Cardini, amongst many others, as well as a string of radio plays by Danny Howard, Jamz Supernova and Sarah Story, who invited Hilit for a Future Dance Mix.

On ‘Snap Talk,’ the fast-rising East London DJ and producer delivers another power-house with a punchy and surprising energy, this time propelled by Brazilian funk dance rhythms, a homage to her days as a samba dancer at London’s Notting Hill Carnival. Fellow Rekids artist Kameelah Waheed’s seductive spoken word vocals accompany and elevate this 909-laden rhythm, making for a perfect 2 AM track that truly stands out.

On the flip, Hilit’s ‘Gate 33’ combines looping percussion that opens up into an insistent, heavy-duty drum rhythm, utilising favela bells, a pulsating bassline and a mix of impassioned vocals and unsettling airport announcement samples, creating a wholly addictive late-night groove. Hilit Kolet has been an integral figure in the London underground scene since selling vinyl at Soho’s legendary Black Market Records. Her distinctive and energetic DJ style has landed her firmly in the booths, playing everywhere from Ibiza to Berlin, via Shanghai and Oslo.
