Once again, Frenk Dublin explores dub and reflects on hardcore's spatiotemporal continuums with his latest release for sophisticated Rotterdam-based techno collective Arts. From the outset, with Chord Dancer and The Lost Realm, we are only mildly transported by electromagnetic convection, with tonic melodies and pleasing sonic physics resonating and passing by our ears. It is only when turning to the B-side that we hear anything remotely less reassuring, with Time & Space leaning into a state of deep void and Sapphire Dub advancing, at a glacial pace, through expelled fields of chordal residue and the impact of rimshot and kick hits. The closer, Inspected, disquiets rather than resolves any remaining tension, its bursts of monotonous echo suggesting there is more to come.
