Fatdog - Remember [Wolf Music]

Originally released in 2012, Fatdog’s debut release quickly became a cult classic amongst followers of left-of-centre, slo-mo deep house. Away from the studio, his Werk parties hosted the likes of Marcellus Pittman, Theo Parrish, Move D, MCDE, Levon Vincent, Moodymann and Patrice Scott in the North East of England. This EP was a testament to the wild basement energy coming out of those nights, effortlessly blending UK and Detroit influences.

‘Remember Me’ sets the tone with Chris Raine’s soulful vocal over warm organ chords and a coy electro synth hook, creating a late-night, classy vibe. ‘U&Me’ slips into dubbed-out territory, a codeine-laced slow-house jam, deep and narcotic. On the flip, ‘Cookie’ channels Theo Parrish with its hypnotic, syrupy cadence, whilst ‘Contact’ closes with an electroid edge, perfect for 3am floor prowlers.

Thirteen years on, WOLF has gone back into the archives, and with the artist’s own blessing, re-issued this timeless EP for a new generation of vinyl buyers.
