FAÏG - South West EP [Planet Rhythm]

Belgian DJ and producer FAÏG has been making techno under various aliases and for numerous top-tier labels for decades. His latest release on Planet Rhythm is another powerful block of subversive sonics. On South West, he combines polished kicks and basslines with wobbly percussion that moves through the stereo, while distant synths complete the landscape without distracting from the main rhythm. Logg is more deranged and urgent, with manic synth loops and unsettling sirens that are hair-raising, while the kicks keep pounding. Deep Within harks back to the elegant techno of the 90s, with funky claps gliding over powerful kicks and a silky bass. Taro closes the EP with an aquatic and repetitive dub depth. It’s simple, yet well-crafted and incredibly effective.
