Motor City royalty Floorplan —aka Detroit techno pioneer and minimal techno originator Robert Hood alongside his DJ/producer daughter Lyric Hood— announce their forthcoming involvement in the deeply respected “fabric presents” mix series with the release of their new single “You’re A Shining Star”, out now. The full mix will be released in digital, vinyl, and CD formats via fabric records on November 28th.

Robert has been a fabric regular since the institution’s earliest years, racking up over 20 appearances in Room 2, including a live session on New Year’s Eve 2012. In 2008, he delivered Fabric 39, regarded as one of the most revered contributions within fabric’s mix catalogue. Now, with the forthcoming “fabric presents Floorplan”, the story comes full circle, marking both the duo’s debut in this iconic series and a momentous occasion for the family project.

About Floorplan: Emerging from a Detroit childhood surrounded by a rich musical culture influenced by Motown and vinyl, Robert Hood was an early member of the pivotal 90s collective Underground Resistance, helping to drive the rise of techno. Going solo, Hood shaped minimal techno with his album Minimal Nation. From there came groundbreaking productions, acclaimed performances, and his own M-Plant label, until, in 1996, he created Floorplan, an alter ego to expand beyond minimal into a techno steeped in gospel, soul, and house. Immersed in music from a young age, Lyric eventually connected with the same electronic spark that has driven her father for decades. In 2014, following the release of Floorplan's debut album Paradise, the project evolved when Lyric, then 16, joined him live under the Floorplan name, including a memorable closing set on Dekmantel’s Boiler Room stage. Two years later, Lyric officially became a full member of the project, cementing this father-daughter collaboration, and that same year, they released their joint album Victorious via M-Plant.
