Emmanuel - Planned Obsolescence (Incl. Shed Remix) [Arts]

Rotterdam-based techno label Arts returns with an EP from its founder Emmanuel, featuring a remix from special guest, German musician Shed. These are four tracks of powerful techno for large venues: the initial tracks don't try to do anything radical, but they don't need to either. These are tracks designed for DJs looking for high-energy techno, with hard-hitting kicks, groovy percussion, and dub chords. The final track, "Mascara," is probably the EP's highlight: a surprising but very welcome shift towards drum & bass, which would fit perfectly on techno-focused drum & bass labels like Samurai Music or UVB-76.
