Back in stock by popular demand, the twelfth release in our seminal Brazil 45’s series brings the reissue of two undeniable classics from Brazil’s rich musical tapestry.

On the A-side, Brazilian samba luminary Elza Soares performs the Jorge Ben classic, Mas Que Nada. Originally featured on her brilliant 1970 LP Sambas & Mais Sambas, released by Odeon, this version stands out for its harder-hitting drums, energetic piano, and Elza's stunning vocals, making it a true dancefloor anthem. With over 34 albums in a 60-year career, Elza is an undisputed legend of Brazilian music.

Little is known about Elizabeth, the artist behind the B-side track. Nicknamed Gatinha do Mato (roughly translating to Wild Cat), she was linked to the Jovem Guarda movement, which in the 1960s fused rock and roll and youth culture with Brazilian styles.

Vou Falar-Lhe Francamente is a majestic piece laden with emotion and enhanced by a powerful brass section. We originally discovered it at Tony’s Hits, one of our favorite spots in São Paulo, now defunct. The record was released as a 7” by the RGE label in 1970.
