Eddie Leader - So Underground EP [Chiwax]

Eddie Leader, founder of the admirable Hudd Trax label, has released many great records over the years, though his releases away from his own imprint have been limited. As a result, his productions aren't nearly as well-known as they should be. This EP on Chiwax, a high-profile label, could help change that.

Here he delivers powerful, immersive deep house jams, full of groove and intoxicating, influenced by classic US sounds from the 80s and 90s. This is particularly evident in the opener “So Underground (dub)” and the early-morning, slightly more dubby and tech-tinged vibes of “Now Move.” “The Vision” brings echoing piano motifs and spoken word snippets to the forefront over crunchy drums and bubbling acid basslines, while “Believe In Something” is warm, nostalgic, and deliciously loaded with analog textures.
