Dr Packer - Different Strokes [Glitterbox]

Ahead of a full album coming on Glitterbox Recordings, disco re-edits king Dr Packer unveils four of his takes on soulful dancefloor favourites, both classic and contemporary, giving a taste of what’s to come on the LP. Different Strokes kicks off with a re-rub of LaTrece’s I Want To Thank You, produced by MK, which in turn is a house cover of Alicia Myers’ 1981 soul classic. Dr Packer takes the tempo down, leaving room for keyboards mirroring the vocal melody and enhanced percussion. Next, he remixes Shuya Okino’s Still In Love, a contemporary nu-disco classic with beautiful string instrumentation and an accurate guitar riff. In true Dr Packer style, his version adds plenty of additional funk, beefing up the bassline to suit a dynamic disco set. Following is a remix of ATFC’s Bad Habit, again treated to Dr Packer’s signature laid-back, groove-laden touch. Finally, there’s Soul Rebel’s I’ll Be Good, a mid-2000’s vocal house classic, masterfully re-interpreted for today’s Glitterbox dancefloor.
