D'Julz - Raw Toolz 3 [Chiwax]

As the title suggests, D’Julz’s ‘Raw Tools’ series – here returning to Rawax sub-label Chiwax for a third instalment – is the French veteran producer’s outlet for weighty, insatiable club cuts: hardware-driven, analogue-rich workouts ready for the floor.

It opens with ‘This Is Not a Concert’, a dusty, slow-burning, hypnotic-loop-driven dancefloor shuffler, before making way for the deep-bass, sample-heavy disco-house hedonism of ‘The Pocket’. ‘Let It Go’ is laidback acid with bleep-style sub-bass and sparkling TB-303 motifs, whilst ‘Stormyt’ [sic] is a warm, sunset-ready fragment of deep garage-house, rich in dreamy chords and improvised organ lines.
