Dj Sneak - Gittin' Ghetto EP [Aliens On Wax]

New imprint Aliens on Wax will be a label to watch this year, promising releases out of Chicago from artists like Kevin Saunderson, Roland Clark and Bad Boy Bill. Appropriately, it is a long-serving local hero - the one and only DJ Sneak - who kicks off the label with a four-track, typically club-focussed release. He kicks off with 'Gettin' Ghetto', a hypnotic and rolling house jam in his familiar style, before opting for pounding drums, raw electronic motifs, sweat-soaked percussion and plenty of effects on the frantic and psychedelic 'I Beat That Ghetto'. Over on the flip, we get two versions of 'Spirit Taker': a deliciously tracky, psychedelic and warehouse-ready 'Dub' (track 3) and the slightly more action-packed original version (track 4).
