After a year in which the 50th installment of the long-running series was released to great acclaim, DJ-Kicks returns in 2016 with another landmark edition. Iconic Detroit DJ and producer Moodymann is at the helm for his first multi-artist DJ mix compilation. Born Kenny Dixon Jr., Moodymann is a unique icon of electronic music, hailing from and utterly tied to the Motor City. He's a frank, impossible-to-ignore charismatic artist who, since the early 90s, has left a distinctive and deeply soulful mark on house and techno. Fusing jazz, funk, soul, blues, and rock in captivating ways, he's responsible for some of the most definitive tracks, EPs, and LPs in electronic music on labels like Planet E, Peacefrog, and his own KDJ and Mahogani Music imprints. Equally capable of delivering the sweetest and most sensual sounds as the darkest and most depraved grooves, his unique voice and stream of consciousness infuse carefully selected samples to bring music to life that is decidedly alive and authentic.

Moodymann's DJ sets are the stuff of legend. Often playing with his face hidden, Dixon shies away from ubiquitous hits to draw the listener into his personal musical environment.
