Although she's been DJing in and around Detroit for decades, it wasn't until five years ago that Ariel Corley, aka DJ Holographic, released her debut EP. Appropriately, five years later she presents her debut full-length album: a euphoric tour of the astral chart that combines dusty Detroit deep house and beatdown grooves with instrumentation rooted in disco, electrofunk, P-funk, and soul.

There's plenty to enjoy throughout the record: from the disco-house elegance of "Gemini" and the hard-hitting, bass-heavy, techno-but-not-quite-techno sound of "Cancer," to the Motor City DNA proto-house of "Virgo," the nocturnal deep house reverie with dub touches of "Libra," and the TB-303-laden nocturnal sophistication of "Sagittarius." As a debut album, House In The Dark is quite a bomb.
