Discotecas keep the sticky groove going with another sizzling release that digs deep into disco, funk and afro. “Heavy Dub” opens with loose rhythms accompanied by stinging brass and plenty of percussion, while “LFA” takes things a little deeper. Here, the drums are kept low and the mood is more menacing. The groove is full of detail, with plenty of hats and toms, and fuzzy chords that add a warm touch and a nod to Moodymann’s style. As the track progresses, it gets funkier and more festive, culminating with some spoken words that bring it to a stylish close.
