Danny Krivit - Edits By Mr. K [Defected]

Named the King of the Edit since the 1980s, pioneering Manhattan DJ Danny Krivit (aka Mr K) reclaims the title bestowed upon him some 30 years ago with his latest 12” vinyl release. A highly respected selector, Danny’s prolific remixing and production ability has left its mark on hundreds of records, his characteristic style shaping the sound of New York City.

Opening up the A-side of this release, Danny edits this summer’s key track, The Vision’s ‘Heaven’, intertwining a gloriously funky bassline with Andreya Triana’s vocal to create an extended, DJ-friendly mix that sent crowds wild at Dekmantel Festival.

On the B-side Mr K delves into Defected’s catalogue, trying his hand at The DangerFeel Newbies’ ‘What Am I Here For (Original NDATL Vocal)’. Danny’s stripped back take extends the original jazzy, percussive record, whilst smooth, velvety vocals and slick keys close out this expressive, sophisticated release. A true master of the edit, music this good deserves to be heard on wax.
